THE REVELATION
The
Trilogy
- There are actually three stories about the Garden that I’m working on.
Part 1 is the one you can read now, and tells the story of how the
Gardens were created and the story of the incredible young woman who inspired
the Gardens. This story is told from the perspective of a modern young woman,
Dr. Vivian Rhames, an archaeologist who is commissioned to translate a
mysterious set of twelve cuneiform tablets held by a private family and being
prepared for an estate auction. Vivian discovers these tablets are the
autobiographical writings of the Queen of Babylon who inspired the creation of
the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
These tablets are, however, orphan relics, undocumented in traditional
scientific and academic procedure. Vivian believes the tablets to be true, but
must risk her career to try and save the historical life of this extraordinary
queen from unjustified accusations of fraud.
Part 2, which is well developed as a story but not complete yet, tells
about the people who cared for the Gardens in secret for the hundreds of years
after Nebuchadnezzar died and Babylon was taken over by the Persian Empire. It
also tells the life story of a young woman married into the harem of a king in
a remote land on the Silk Route from Persia to China. This young woman’s
life is filled with hatred, jealousy, and spiteful manipulation by the First
Wife of the harem and the husband’s mother, the Queen Mother.
So the young woman flees from her kingdom, pretending she’s died in an
accident, to escape the misery of her life and go to Babylon to see if it’s
true that a secret but fabulous Garden exists which was created for love. What
she finds in Babylon changes her life and her destiny.
Part 3 tells what finally happened to the Gardens, and reveals the man
who brought about their destruction, shortly after Alexander the Great came to
Babylon and saw the Gardens. This part also tells the story of twin sisters
who are separated at birth by cruel circumstances, and are raised in two
completely different worlds. When they finally meet as young women, both are
at first filled with anger for the cruelty that life has inflicted on them
both (in very different ways). But the overpowering inspiration of the Garden
and its legendary Queen Amytis helps these sisters resolve their anger and
find peace with their relationship. Even as the Garden is being destroyed in
physical form, it is being infused in the hearts of many people, like these
two sisters, and the legend begins to blossom in full form after the physical
structure vanishes.
Part 3 is still being outlined and researched.
